After correctingforaramp-likeinstrumentalsystematic, • the GJ1214b, a sub-Neptune suspected of hosting an atmosphere, has been observed to have a flat transmission spectrum • It is reasonable to assume the presence of clouds in exoplanet atmospheres is a wide spread phenomena, therefore understanding and characterization of exoplanet atmospheres is linked to our understanding of the clouds grism measurements of the transmission spectrum of the super-Earth exoplanet GJ1214b. These are the rst published WFC3 observations of a transiting exoplanet atmosphere. After correcting for a ramp-like instrumental systematic, we achieve nearly photon-limited precision in these observations, nding the transmission spectrum of GJ1214b to be "GJ1214b is quite close to Earth, just 42 light years away, and it orbits its star in just 1.6 days." That fast orbit gave scientists the opportunity to record the exoplanet's flat spectrum, ruling out an atmosphere of simple hydrogen, water, carbon dioxide or methane. But this latest exoplanet, GJ1214b, has something else, too: an atmosphere about 200 km thick.
